Our Weekend in Dallas

Our cancelled camping trip weekend turned into our weekend in Dallas with the Mr.'s family! We decided to drive up there last minute.... our camping trip wasn't going to start until Saturday but once we decided to cancel it (Friday morning) we decided we would leave by lunch time for Dallas! I had to go to my MOPS meeting so the Mr. packed everything up and when I got home we hit the road. Unfortunately, we had horrible traffic and weather so a 5 hour trip turned 6.5 hours. Thankfully, Wyatt did awesome so it evened out! I don't have any pics from Friday...
Saturday was Uncle Jason's birthday! So glad we could spend it with him. Aunt Debbie took us out for lunch to Snuffer's and then we went to the Dallas Aquarium. It was Spring Break up there too so it was pretty crowded, but Wyatt loved it so it was worth it. (The pictures didn't turn out that great because of the lighting)

 With his Aunt Ashly...

 And Uncle Jason...

 Wyatt fell out towards the very end =)

On Sunday, the rest of the family came over and we ate LOTS of delicious food and hung out! Even did a little bit of geocaching!

After dinner we walked around a park and watched the ducks and birds! (with Patch and Link of course!)

Monday we visited until lunch time and then we headed home! It turned out to be an awesome weekend, we had a blast! Thank you so much Ashly and Jason for having us last minute! And have your camping stuff ready! ;)

Sunday's Post (on Tuesday)

Well, we had to cancel our camping trip due to cold weather and lots of rain! We planned on going with some of the Mr.'s family and we were all pretty bummed. But that's ok... we ended up driving up to Dallas for the weekend to spend time with the Mr.'s sister and husband. And it all worked out because we had a wonderful time! Pictures to come from our weekend =)

For my Sunday's Lent post this week, I am just sharing a link to Rachel Held Evan's blog and her post "40 Ideas for Lent (2012)." It is a great resource!

And some words from Psalm 139 to focus on today -

You have searched me, LORD,
   and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
   you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
   you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
   you, LORD, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
   and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
   too lofty for me to attain.
 7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
   Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
   if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
   if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
   your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
   and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
   the night will shine like the day,
   for darkness is as light to you.

Wacky Hair

Tuesday morning we had a play date at a friend's house (from church). It must have wore Wyatt out because he took a 2 hour nap that afternoon (compared to his usual 1 hour nap!), and he woke up with the craziest hair!!

And because I don't have enough pictures of the 2 of us, I snapped a couple <3

And then it's straight to the high chair for snack =)

The Mr. is officially on Spring Break until the 19th! I guess that's one good thing about your hubby being a full-time student, lol. (He'll still be flying, but no classes) And this weekend we are going camping! Yes, actual tent camping. with a toddler. Should be fun! It is supposed to rain though so we are watching the weather right now =/ I'll post my weekly Lent post on Monday when we get back.

A Morning Outside

Our weather was really crazy last week.. 80 one day and 60 the next. We went to a trail one morning last week and it was a little chilly so we just threw Wyatt's monkey hat on him =) Here's just a few pictures of little man playing a little bit when we stopped to let him out of his stroller.

I caught him putting a rock in my purse, lol. My purse holds rocks and little cars these days and I couldn't be happier =)

 weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Knowing You...

Every Sunday in Lent I am posting something that spoke to me throughout the week....

If you have 4 minutes to spare, take time to read this post by Ann Voskamp (a real author, lol), "The Secret to Fasting in a Lent that is Failing." I love her definition of her Lent and fast, " Letting go of more of the world, to lay more hold of God." It's what Lent is all about, but really, it's what our lives should be all about.

This morning in church we sang, "All I Once Held Dear." One of my favorite church songs! =)
"Knowing You Jesus... There is no greater thing" Those words speak truth. There is nothing greater, nothing more satisfying, no higher joy than knowing Him....

Happy Sunday!

Laundry, Tomatoes, MOPS, & Open Gym

A little bit of everything!

I had to buy some more Washing Soda and Borax last week to make another big batch of our homemade laundry detergent and figured I should do a follow up just in case anyone was curious... this was the 1st time I had to buy this stuff since October!! So it looks like it will cost about $10.00 every 4 months for laundry supplies! Cha-ching! That is a huge savings compared to what we were spending for the HE Tide and Snuggle dryer sheets and fabric softener. Other than when my family was here over Christmas, I have not used either the dryer sheets or fabric softener and our clothes are perfectly clean and soft =) (I still have some Tide and Snuggle that I don't want to throw away so I'll use it when we do laundry for company until it is gone.) I do not see any reason why we would ever go back.... it's super easy, saves money, and is supposedly healthier... what's not to love?!

Next up... tomatoes! So, I do not have a green thumb at all. I love flowers and plants in the house but I've never kept anything alive for very long. And now with cats that eat the plants and a toddler who would dig in the dirt, you will not find a live plant in my house for a while. BUT, I have always loved gardens! Both of my grandmas had gardens and I always loved eating fresh vegetables straight out of the garden!(A part of me wishes I could live on a farm in the country and have a biggg garden... I don't know why, I don't really like to get dirty or work outside, haha) Anyways, I did some research on Container Gardening and decided to give it a try this year! Here is my one and only tomato plant....

I bought the plant like that and transplanted it into the pot. I am also going to try cucumbers, but I am starting those from seeds so they aren't quite ready to be planted yet. I am just hoping and praying for 1 little tomato!! haha I will be so excited if I even get 1! I am completely ready for it to be a total fail though, lol.

This morning we had a MOPS play date at Alamo Gymnastics... Open Gym! Speaking of MOPS... next year I am going to be joining the steering team as the MOPPETS Coordinator! The steering team is made up of all the positions needed to run MOPS (Lead Coordinator, Assis. Coordinator, Outings, Crafts, Prayer and Care, Treasurer, Hospitality, ect.) The MOPPETS Coordinator is in charge of the curriculum, craft supplies, snacks, sign-in sheets, and name tags for all the kiddos! I am very excited to get even more involved with MOPS! But back to Open Gym... Wyatt had a blast! I am so happy to have learned about this place. They have Open Gym every Monday and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 for 5 bucks!

The kids loved this big foam pit!

Trampoline..

Then, we sat outside with some friends and had a snack =)

I'll be back on Sunday! Hope everyone is having a good week!
