Thanksgiving Trip (Lots of Pictures)

We spent the week of Thanksgiving in Fredericksburg with the Mr.'s family... we had such a great time. It's nice to have nothing on the agenda and just see how the days unfold spending time with family =)
The weather was so nice, very fall-ish, so we spent a good amount of time outside....

Wyatt thought this was a little chair for him..

Wednesday was Aunt Ashly's birthday! Wednesday morning Ashly, Jason, and Mr. did a little bit of geocaching and went to The Christmas Store on Main Street. I stayed home while Wyatt napped and the Mr.'s mom taught me how to use a sewing machine! I have big plans with my new skills, ha, just kidding... but there are a few projects I'd like to do.

Here's Wyatt "helping" Uncle Jason work on a geocache challenge

Unfortunately, this is the only picture I took sewing related...
hahaha

To teach me the sewing machine, we made this outfit for Wyatt...
(he was wearing the orange shirt and we were just trying it on him) But how adorable is that?!

The Mr. raked up a nice big leaf pile for Wyatt to play in!!

Thanksgiving morning, we went with Ashly and Jason to Cross Mountain to get a geocache, it was a gorgeous day...

Of course we also watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade =) Mr.'s mom and Ashly made such a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for us! Pretty table...

Baby's 1st Thanksgiving

After we ate and rested our tummies, we went to Main Street and walked around a little bit. They had the Christmas decorations up so it was so pretty...

We came home on Friday and put up our Christmas tree and decorations!! It made our little apartment feel so cozy and it's actually starting to feel more like "winter" the last couple days. I keep thinking this will be Wyatt's 1st Christmas but it's not. (He was just 6 days old though and we were in the hopsital) We can't believe how fast a year has gone by!! We are so excited to celebrate this precious boy's first year of life =)

Giving Thanks

It is crazy to think about where we were just 1 year ago... Our lives have changed drastically in such a short period of time.

A year ago we were living in Florida in a condo (our “own” house), the Mr. worked full time in the Marine Corps and the Mrs. had recently gone from 2 jobs to 1 job as she was 8 months pregnant! We had all the security and benefits that come from  life in the military... We frequently went out to eat, on weekend getaways, vacations, ect. We were comfortable and of course, happy… but not necessarily fulfilled =)
So, after almost 2 years of prayer and discussion, we decided we wanted to take a different route. We had 6.5 years of marriage under our belts, were getting ready to start our family and we wanted to make some changes. We were still young enough to “start over” and truly follow our dreams.

So now, here we are 1 year later... Our little family of 3, living in Texas, renting a small apartment and just barely squeaking by. The Mr. is pursuing his dream of a career in aviation and is truly happy at the end of the day. The Mrs. is living her dream of being a mommy and being present for every moment of Wyatt's "firsts."
Sure, we've had to give up a lot.. Our “own” home, job security, fun cars/motorcycle, vacations, and luxuries such as cable (lol).. But we are together and happy and living life for the everyday, ordinary moments.
We are on a journey and we are growing as individuals and as a family.... Our hearts are more grateful for the things we so often take for granted... food, shelter, health, family, time spent together.
We are so thankful God gave us the faith and opportunity to go forward with our plans and for providing and being present each step of the way. We can’t see where He is leading us, but we know He is and look forward to His plans to unfold.

We have so many things to give thanks for this year, but here’s some top ones:

We could never put into words how thankful we are that God gave us Wyatt. He has made our lives so full of joy and we continue to be in awe that he is ours!
We could not be more thankful for our marriage and friendship. What a blessing to have a partner to live and enjoy life with <3
A big thanksgiving this year is that we were able to get rid of the house in Florida without going into foreclosure, what an answer to our prayer the whole situation was.
We are thankful that the Mr. is able to pursue aviation at an awesome flight school through the GI Bill, which also covers our basic needs while he is in school.
We are always so grateful for both of our families. We have such wonderful relationships with both sides of our families.. all the way to extended family, who support and love us so much.
We are thankful for our new home and church in Texas. We love our church so much… every week we are challenged in our faith and we have so many opportunities to serve and fellowship with other Christians.
And lastly, but most important, we are overwhelmed with thanksgiving that God would love us so much to send His son to die in our place so we can know we are spending our eternities in heaven. We are so far from perfect and so undeserving of His goodness, we struggle with fears and sometimes we doubt and worry and even question His plan… but our true joy lies in our salvation, in such a dark world we can truly rejoice knowing that is He is our only HOPE.

We will be spending the rest of the week with the Mr.’s family! To the Mrs.’s parents, brothers, sis-in-law and niece and nephew… we love you and will miss you this Thanksgiving!

 Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy 11 Months!

Wyatt...

  • Wears size 4 diapers
  • Wears both size 12 month and 18 month clothes
  • Got another tooth on the bottom, for a total of 7 teeth!
  • Is sleeping straight through the night the majority of the time!!! (He woke up 1 night (at 3:00 am) in the last 2 weeks) WOOHOO!! He sleeps from 6:30 pm - 6:30 am.
  • Eats all kinds of food now! However, I never thought I would be so anal about what he eats, but I am =/ (I did too much research on kids and food) No pre-packaged/processed foods... I just make more stuff from scratch.. including chicken nuggets and french fries, which are waaay better homemade than anything out of a box anyways, so we eat it too =)
  • Claps!
  • Says "kkkkeeee" or "deeeeee" for "kitty"... he points and chases the cats around all day.
  • Points and gestures toward things he wants, has to touch everything
  • Is completely off his Zantac! That was a long, slow weaning process. And he is actually spitting up a little bit now that he's off it, so it seems that he does still struggle with reflux, but he doesn't need the medication like he did as a newborn.
  • Gives the best hugs... he squeezes around your neck =)
  • Is finally drinking out of a sippy cup! 1 month until Operation "Get Rid of The Bottles"!
  • Is officially a walker... he walks all the way across the kitchen and down the hall
  • LOVES taking things out of boxes, baskets, ect. and putting them back in.. I have a couple videos of him playing below. They aren't all that exciting, but it's just so cute how he's started to play so I had to include them in this month's update (mostly for myself to be able to look back) =)

I still wear him most days.... he is a total mama's boy and I love it :)

Right after the Mr. got his pilot's license!!

It is nearly unbelievable to me that Wyatt is about to turn 1 year old. WOW. We are so excited to celebrate his 1st year of life!! Party preparation is almost complete! (I'm making all his decorations so I had to get an early start)
Happy 11 months, Wyatt!

Pumpkin Carving

Better late, than never! Wyatt absolutely loved his very first pumpkin carving experience. He likes to feel anything "different" and he likes to make a mess, the perfect combination!

Concordia-Fest and Halloween Night

Our church, Concordia, had a Fall Festival on Sunday afternoon. It was a blast! The baseball field had a couple jump houses, a super slide, a bungee run, rock climbing, ect.

I volunteered to work a 30 minute shift at the giraffe jump house :)

Pony Rides

They also had face painting, bingo, different games.... all that fun stuff. But the best part of it was... Toddler Town!!!

Toddler Town was set up in the shade!! lol They just had a bunch of different stations that the babies/toddlers could go around too....

We had a great time with our church family =)

So for Halloween night, we knew we wanted to take Wyatt trick-or-treating but with our experience living in apartments/condos we knew there wouldn't be much at our house.... so we decided to go to an event we saw advertised in the community at a church. Well, you had to play a game to get candy and they didn't have a whole lot for little ones so Wyatt didn't get to much candy for his first Halloween.. which we are actually glad about!! We all know who ends up eating most of that candy anyways ;)

Getting excited! He probably knows he should be in bed already, hehe

There's a lion in the car!

Trick-or-treat!

The best thing about it was they had a carousel set up inside!!

We got there right when it started so we were first to ride it with just a couple other kids..

We did Pumpkin Carving on Saturday but I'll post those pictures in a separate post or this one will get reeeally long. Hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend! We have SO, SO many things to give thanks for this Thanksgiving season!
