Wyatt's World

Not only does Wyatt love playing in the fridge, but now he's discovered the light! (I wonder what this does to our electric bill) =/

Mohawk after bath =)

Dumped over the laundry basket. (His hair is getting so long.. it touches his eyebrows, goes over his ears and curls around his neck. I am nowhere near ready to have him get a haircut) =(

A paci in his mouth and a paci in his hand

When I dropped him off at his room for MOPS this morning, it was the first time I've ever left him that his eyes teared up and he reached for me. Needless to say, I had to go to the bathroom and wipe my tears away. He makes me look like such a baby! (He goes to the nursery every Sunday, but he's never shown any kind of "separation anxiety") Even this morning wasn't bad at all, and boy am I glad because I would never leave him if he cried everytime. ha.

Post on the concert coming!

David Crowder Band Tribute Part 2 from the Mrs.

The Mr. failed to tell you that the reason we are sharing The David Crowder Band with you is because we are going to see them in concert in 6 DAYS!!!! We bought tickets several months ago for the show in Austin not even realizing it is opening night of their last tour together as a band!! And it's sold out. It's going to be HUGE! We saw them in concert for their Church Music tour in Tampa, FL and it was a.maz.ing. One of the funnest nights we've ever had. And we've had a lot of fun. ;)

One of the things I love about David Crowder (other than how hilarious he is) is that I see him more as a worship leader than a recording artist, especially having experienced a night of worship with him. He wrote a book called "Praise Habit, Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi." If you haven't read it, go pick up a copy this weekend.. it's pretty short and a quick read. But he writes about how the goodness of God is found in ALL things and we were created for the sole purpose of praising Him. And what it looks like to live a life where praise is a habit. His writing style in the book (much like his songs) is so unique and his way with words is unlike anything I've ever read.

"O Praise Him" is one of their older songs, but it's one of my all time favorites... (lyrics are below)

Turn your ear
To Heaven and hear
The noise inside
The sound of angels awe
The sound of angels' songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
'All to Christ our King!'

How constant
How divine
This song of ours will rise
Oh, how constant
How divine
This love of ours will rise
Will rise...

CHORUS:
Ohh praise Him!
Ohh praise Him!
He is Holy!
He is Holy!

Turn your gaze
To Heaven and raise
A joyous noise
Oh the sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a king
Angels join to sing
'All for Christ our King!'

CHORUS {x2}

Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la la..
Oh la la la la la... laaa laa laa laaa!

CHORUS

How infinite and sweet
This love so rescuing
Oh how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing...

Hallelujah,
Hallelujah
He is Holy,
He is Holy

David Crowder Tribute Part 1 The Mr's take

Everyone has their favorite band. You could even say that most couples have their favorite band. Are they ever the same? In our case, that is me and the Mrs, yes they are.  So you're asking who is yall's* favorite band, ha, what other band could it be than The David Crowder Band!

Who is the David Crowder band and where did they come from? What type of music do they play? Etc. Etc. Hey calm down people, I'm gettin' there.**

Here's a quick rundown; pulling from a hazy memory so don't quote me here...
David Crowder and a handfull of his college buddies starting a college church in Waco, Tx. Can't remember the year but it's not important. Moving on, so being a talented musician Crowder naturally takes the lead as the music director/ praise band leader guy. Crowder puts together this praise band*** with his buddies and play electric rock (not techno rock). Then the praise band starts to become popular for their songs and they begin to branch out from their church with local concerts and gigs. This popularity grows exponentially until they become who they are today, the same guys just with lots more fans.

So, a typical music band story right? Ya you could say that but the characters in the band are far from typical and their not-so-typicality comes out in volumes in their music videos. Here take a look...

So you probably picked up a little "craziness" from these guys huh? They are definitely a high energy bunch, but the coolest part is their message, Jesus Christ! So here they are today, infinitely popular while staying true to their message and their style (straight weird and quirky).

Now, to answer the question rattling around your head, why a random post for these guys?
Unfortunately, the answer is a sad one. The David Crowder Band is calling it quits this year. The band members all have different reasons but their seems to be one central them among them all which is to go back to college and/or spend more time with their families. This is a reasonable desire considering none of them set out to become super popular and tour the entire country all year long. All they originally set out to do is start a church, play some music, and bring people to Christ. I'd say they did all that and a lot more.

Thanks David Crowder Band for all the great songs, awesome videos, and more importantly all the souls you helped bring to Christ's Kingdom. God Bless all of you on your future endeavors.

-Mr.

*Ya I'm from Texas, yall is a word down here.
** I talk to my self in third person a lot, sorry.
***Just felt like adding three stars here for no reason, well more like in honor of David Crowder's quirkyness. Read some of his blog and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Wyatt Swims!

Wyatt is in last week of Infant Swim!! This video (below) was taken yesterday in just his swim diapers. Today, he had to do his lesson in summer clothes and shoes (and a regular diaper) and he did great! Tomorrow, he will do his lesson in winter clothes, shoes, and socks. So just in case he ever needs to use his skills, he will be familiar with how it feels no matter what he is wearing. We are soooooo proud of him! And he loves it (getting flipped into the water and everything).. he cries when he has to get out, lol.

Our little fish.....

Just a picture from today in his summer clothes...

I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to take anymore pictures/video but if I am, I'll have 1 more post on ISR. If anyone reading has any questions about the program, go ahead and ask! We were very unsure what it would be like before starting, but after going through it we highly recommend ISR.

P.S. Scroll down if you haven't seen Wyatt's 9 month post!

Happy 9 months!

Wyatt...
  • Weighs 19.5 lbs. and is 29 inches tall (he had a great check-up with his Dr. today!)
  • Wears size 3 diapers
  • Just moved up into 12 month clothes (for everything.. play clothes, onsies, pjs, ect.)
  • Is on the same schedule he was at 8 months (sleeping 6:00 pm - 6:00 am with 1 night feeding, then a morning nap and afternoon nap)
  • Has 6 teeth! 4 on top, 2 on bottom
  • Is in his last week of ISR!!! Video coming soon!
  • Added grapes, blueberries, cherries, whole wheat pasta, and egg yolk to his menu since last month. He LOVES blueberries. They are like ice cream to him! He does good with the pasta. I add formula to his egg yolk so it's kinda like scrambled eggs, he's a big fan of that too!

(blueberries)
  • Would rather feed himself (i.e. finger foods) than have me feed him pureed foods.... I think my days of pureeing his baby food have come to an end =(
  • MUST have his own spoon if I am feeding him with a spoon. So he's holding a spoon and I have a spoon. Then he realizes my spoon is the one with food on it, so he takes mine and I take his. But "my" spoon still has the food on it, so we switch again... and we go back and forth switching spoons =) He has a fascination with spoons, I had to buy another pack because they were always all dirty!

  • Loves opening and closing doors
  • Chases the cats.... he can't catch them quite yet but man, they are going to be in for it!
  • Plays airplane with Daddy

  • Loves his big truck

  • Eats more paper than I'd like to admit! (as I posted on Facebook a couple days ago) The toilet paper I can understand, but he finds receipts and magazines and envelopes and paper towels... I dig paper out of his mouth at least once a day, ha.

(and see that child safety lock on the toilet?? Well he can take it off =o !)

  • Is cruising even faster along the furniture and stands up on his own for about 5 seconds before he plops down. He does really good with his walker! Too bad I don't have any video footage of him using it the correct way, but he also does this....

The months are really starting to fly by now!! *sigh* Wyatt, you have our hearts so full of joy they could just pop!

Remembering....

This weekend we remembered the horrible tragedy of September 11th, 2001 along with the rest of the nation....

And today, we are also remembering the life and love of Stephen Dahl, Tyler's dad, as he left this earth for his heavenly home 5 years ago...

We are reminded of the verse where Jesus says, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

This world is not our home. It is so very temporary. The Bible even tells us that we will have trouble. We will experience pain and suffering...
Our only HOPE is in Jesus and we look forward to the day when we will spend eternity with Him.

Camera 0, Wyatt 1

I thought you would enjoy seeing how most of my pictures I take of Wyatt actually turn out =)

Then he decided that he would allow me to take a picture of him, but only after he grabbed a receipt and shoved it in his mouth

Ooo, that didn't taste to good.

As soon as he notices that I have the camera on him, he takes off towards me!

He keeps me on my toes =)

Labor Day Weekend

My parents and Chandler flew in from Georgia last Thursday and stayed until Monday. After seeing them at least monthly when we lived in Florida, not seeing them for almost 6 months felt like for.ever. We are so glad they flew out for a visit! We all know families are a little "crazy" (that's what makes them so fun) but I never laugh as hard as when I'm with my parents! They are a hoot! I love it. =) And my "baby" brother is not quite a "baby" anymore... he has grown so much the last few months!
Here's what we caught on camera....

Wyatt and his Grandpa Christians.. this was before we left for swim. They were able to come see swim class on Friday morning so that was cool. They thought it was pretty awesome =)

Me attempting to help my 9th grade brother with algebra! I helped a little bit. I tried, ha.

Lovin' on his Uncle Chan

On Saturday we went out and did some shopping and ate lunch at Pei Wei

Chandler is way taller than me! He's definitely going to hit 6'!

Dad had to do a little bit of studying.. I have to give him a shout out here, he's in his last 2 classes to get his Dual Master's Degree (Human Resources and Leadership/Management)! He graduates next month, GOOOOO DAD!!

Wyatt said "forget Mom, my Grandma is here!" I didn't see much of him all weekend, hehe ;)

<3

He was spoiled with love..

Uncle Chan reading his bedtime story while he brushes his teeth

Boys will be boys

We played GOLF every night after Wyatt went down

Mr. helping my mom set up her YouTube account for her school project

Sunday morning before church... would you believe it if I told you this was the 1st picture we took? ... it was! (the camera was on the tripod)

Sweetness

Playing, Playing

The guys setting up a geocache

More rough housing

When they left Wyatt, was bored so he had to resort back to playing with the toilet paper......
LOL

What I didn't get on camera... hanging out at the pool, going out to eat for Mexican food (of course!), visiting the Lutheran High School, BBQing, geocaching, and naptime =) (We didn't turn the TV on once.. but that's because we don't have cable, ha.)

Thanks so much for flying out Mom, Dad, and Chan! We miss you already!

Bullet Points

  • My family flew in from Georgia for the weekend... we had. a. blast! A post on that coming soon!

  • Wyatt is doing really good in his swim class! He has 2 more weeks so I haven't been able to video him, but his instructor let me take some still photos. Here he is floating!

  • This morning it actually started feeling like FALL!! It was cool and breezy, we even opened the windows for a little bit. We are soooo ready for cooler weather!
  • The Mr. is really, really enjoying his pilot program. He starts flying this week!
  • Wyatt and I start MOPS next week! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. =) I actually got a paid position working with the "Moppets" for my church's other MOPS group (we have 2!) but then we were told that they would not need us because they were going to be using teachers from the church's childcare program. So that was a bummer, BUT we were told that the Concordia childcare director would be contacting us for some other part-time positions with the childcare. I plan on calling her this week, so keep that in your prayers that maybe something will work out there!
  • We are counting down until September 28th!!!!! The David Crowder Band concert!!! "The 7 Tour" One of our all time favorite bands... more to come on that too!
