My very first Mother’s Day… with a baby in my arms that is.
I originally was going to write a sweet, short letter to Wyatt telling him how much I love him and what he means to me. I didn’t want it to be too “mushy” as I’m more of an introvert, especially when it comes to expressing feelings :) But as I started to write.. I found that this original plan just wasn’t possible…. So here comes the mushiness!

Wyatt,
December 19, 2010 at 2:25 pm changed my life forever, in the best possible way I could have ever imagined. I’ve dreamed of being a mommy my whole life. I grew up playing house with my dolls and knew that someday I’d have a baby of my own, a real one ;) I especially knew I wanted to be a mom when I met your Daddy and knew he would be the one I would marry and be with forever.
I thought I had the perfect time picked out to start making my dream a reality. But just like I’ll teach you one day.. it’s not about our timing or our plans.. it’s up to the One who created you! And let me tell you, His ways are perfect. So I began to wait for you… and the months came and went, and then the months turned into years. Some days I was so sad, wondering if I would ever get to meet you. But I always knew you would come… I just had to wait. I prayed for you every day.
And, even though it’s already been over a year since we found out that you were on your way to us, I can still recall every detail as if it were yesterday. Wyatt, you gave us the biggest surprise of our lives! You are so sneaky ;) Watching you grow from within (and boy, did we grow!) was one of the most exciting times in my life.
But there has never been anything better than the moment we met you. Your Daddy and I have never been more proud or thankful or happy (or scared!) as we were on that day =) And even your birth day did not go as we had imagined or planned, but God wrote your story many, many years ago and you were finally ours to bring home on December 26th, 2010… just as healthy and wonderful as you could be!
I could not be more thankful that I get to spend every moment of my day taking care of you. Playing with you, changing your diapers, feeding you, rocking you to sleep, staring at you… there just isn’t anything better. I tear up just about daily just looking at you… watching your big bright eyes looking around the room, those perfect little feet just kick and kick, and those sweet little giggles that melt my heart every. single. time. These moments are fleeting, they are already going by so very quickly. I am doing my best to slow down and soak them in.
You have made my heart so full! You smile every single time I tell you “I love you” …. It’s like you just know what I’m saying. And I can see your eyes saying the same thing back to me. <3 I know in the days to come you are going to bring me your share of trouble (especially looking at your Daddy’s track record ;)) But with all the love and joy you’ve brought me, it’ll be worth it. You are already almost 5 months old and while I wish you could stay little in my arms forever, the best thing about being your mommy is watching you learn and grow!
Wyatt, you are a special, special miracle sent from above. I may not always be the perfect mom, but I promise you I will give you the very best of me. I will teach you, and guide you and protect you, and love you… knowing you are really His child that He just entrusted to me for a short time.
I love you forever and always,
Mommy

Tripoding!
Two days after rolling over from his back, Wyatt decides that he can start sitting up... with a little help from his hands :) It is just amazing how one day they can't do something and the very next day they can do it! At his 4 month appointment, his Dr. said she expects to see him "tripoding" at his 6 month check-up... well here he is at 4.5 months tripoding....
Here he is again later that night in his jammies!
I've got a list of things to work on in the baby book... it sure is filling up fast! So excited for my very first Mother's Day weekend :) We aren't doing anything to exciting, but I'm just so thankful to be celebrating my little man and spending time with my boys. :)
P.S. Diaper changes are looking more like this....
Gone are the days of laying still....

Bullet Points
- Mr. is out camping in the Big Bend National Park with 4 other guys... he gets cell phone service occasionally and he called and left me the sweetest voice mail this morning <3
- I (finally!) started taking pictures of the house.
- On Wyatt's activity mat, I found that if I put his feet under the hanging toys (instead of his hands) he stays entertained MUCH longer, hehe
- I can't believe he is doing this!!! :
- And this!:
- I've started meal planning again... planning each meal for the week, making the grocery list based off those meals, and sticking ONLY to the list at the grocery store!
- Speaking of meals, I plan on homemaking Wyatt's baby food. Sound hard? Not with this nifty thing that I got a really good deal on on EBay!

- And related to that, we have been researching container vegetable gardens.. growing vegetables (and fruits) in pots on our apartment patio. I LOVE fresh produce out of a garden, but it has also been my experience that I KILL plants of every kind =/ We don't plan on spending a lot of money to get it started, first I have to make sure the vegetables actually grow =)
- My first Mother's Day is coming up and that makes my <3 happy :)
- These are the best snack ever:
- We are currently reading "Bringing Up Boys" by Dr. James Dobson. We read a chapter together out loud every night after Wyatt goes down... we've done this our whole marriage, just thought I'd share our current book.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
A little background before the video... Last Monday, April 4th, when I went to get Wyatt from his nap he had rolled over for the first time, it completely shocked me! He had rolled from his tummy to his back (yes, he sleeps on his tummy, it's the only way he'll sleep) He went on to roll over 6 more times throughout the week with neither of us seeing him do it!! We would even watch him after his nap and he wouldn't do it, but if we left and came back he had rolled over!
The other day I was doing laundry and Mr. was watching Wyatt play in the living room. He shouted, "Come here... and grab the video camera!" This was the very first time we saw him roll over, hence, my gasp and our excitement, lol.

Bullet Points
-The Mr. got me an iPad for my (early) 25th birthday present.
- I am NOT a "gadget" person at. all. My phone is even pretty old school.. I've never even had the Internet on my phone. But I LOVE my iPad.
- We are living with the Mr.'s mom right now in Fredericksburg, TX until April 1st.
- We got to take a look at our apartment in San Antonio.. I really like it. It's much smaller than our house, but very nice and we will make it home.
- I gave up Facebook for Lent....40 days.. I wasted way to much time on there anyways and am actually enjoying my time away. =) But I will be back... Probably with tons of pictures to post.
- I chopped my hair off. But now I miss it.
- Speaking of hair, I think I'm going through the point where you lose a lot of hair after having a baby...I run my fingers through it and a bunch of it falls out. Gross.
- We need to find Wyatt a new pediatrician. I'm really bummed, we loved his Dr. in Jacksonville.
- We'll also be looking for a new church.
- The Mr. is making a little extra cash right now by working with his mom at auctions.
- We are really enjoying our time here in "small town, USA." We loved Jacksonville, FL but it's nice to get away from the big city and have space and time for your soul to breathe :)
- We are going to San Angelo this weekend... The place where I met the Mr. almost 11 years ago. Wow.
- Oh, and did I mention I LOVE my iPad?? I really do!

Mr. and Mrs.
If I knew there were people that read my blog other than family and close friends, this would be a post introduing my husband, Tyler :) But seeing as how the majority of my readers are his side of the family... I don't think that's necessary. So on to introducing OUR new blog! Shortly after Wyatt was born, Tyler posted a few blogs. I'm sure ya'll remember this one =) (so funny to read how life was just 3 short months ago, we are MUCH more settled now! And Wyatt sleeps from 7:00 pm - 7:00 am with one night feeding!!)Anyways, Tyler used to have a blog of his own where he wrote about mostly current political issues. He actually enjoys writing and mentioned that he wanted to continue blogging on this blog. I couldn't convince him to start his own daddy blog ;) so we decided to turn this one into a blog for both of us! Welcome to "Mr. & Mrs." .... we will be changing a few things over the next couple days, but for now we've got the new title up and running!
