Backtracking #2

Just some more pictures to share from August and September!
The first couple we just headed to the car to go somewhere but Wyatt wanted to bring this "box" of books with him and of course he wanted to carry his sippy cup too. It was just to cute =)

I posted one of these pictures on his 21 month update but here is the whole little "series" of sunglasses pics

This next one will always be one of my favorite pictures... it is my first ever totally fake "cheeeese" picture that I got when I told him "SMILE!"

And a couple more drawing pictures....

All of these moments are the reason I LOVE being a stay-at-home mom... at the end of the day when I think back on what we "did" it's the tiny moments like these that are etched into my heart. The time that I have with him is so, so very short and believe it or not, I know one day I will hardly remember these baby and toddler days that just seem to all blend together.... but that's why I try to capture so many moments on camera so I can look back and re-live these precious times. Feeling so incredibly blessed that God gave us this sweet boy to teach and cherish and love.

Backtracking and Updating

OK, seriously.. where has October gone?!? Time is just flying by! Wyatt's social calendar is keeping me running! ha, ha.. I'm only half-way kidding. =) Birthday parties, play dates, pre-school, MOPS, bible study, meetings, halloween parties and other get togethers.... it's no wonder I haven't blogged in a month. I'm trying to get my pictures organized on this lovely Friday night and realized that I have some pictures that are just too cute not to post even though they were taken over a month ago! eek. So I'm doing some backtracking =) As for Tyler, he is getting all settled in to this new job at USAA and loving it and doing well! (of course! He can do anything he sets out to do) Love him and so proud of him. He is also still flying and working on his commercial license.

And now for some pictures of little man from back in August! He got a hold of my camera and started snapping away! Wyatt's self photography....

I have about 30 pictures on my camera from that little "incident" LOL

And here's my little artist coloring away. He loves, loves, loves coloring, writing, and painting =)

I'll probably have a couple more posts of "backtracking" and then hopefully I will post some things from the actual month we are in before the month ends =)
Love to all!

Happy 21 Months, Wyatt!

How can he possibly be 3 months away from turning TWO?!?! It's a good thing life just keeps getting more and more fun! And he just keeps getting cuter!! =)

  • Wears size 5 diapers
  • Wears 24 month/2T clothes and toddler size 5 shoes
  • Food... he's still pretty picky like at 18 months, but I've gotten in the habit of feeding him what we eat at every meal, I put 4-5 things on his plate, with at least ONE thing I know he will eat. That way he has choices. Sometimes he will only eat the fruit and when he's done he just pushes his plate away and I let him down. I find that after a few meals of eating like a bird, the next couple meals he'll clean his whole plate. So I don't worry about it too much and we don't have any fusses over meals.
  • Schedule.... he goes down between 7 and 7:30 (closer to 7:30 most nights) and sleeps until anywhere from 7:30-8:30. So 12-13 hours/night. He is finally 100% down to 1 nap a day. (The transition from 2 naps to 1 nap was the longest, slowest transition yet!) He eats lunch about 11:30 and goes down around 12. His average nap is 2 hours.
  • His paci still stays in his crib at all times. It is only for sleeping. Totally not looking forward to when the time comes to get rid of it =/
  • His newest development for this post is definitely talking! I've lost count of how many words he has now. He basically says anything you tell him to. (i.e. "Wyatt, Say _____!") And he'll try to say it! We are working on two-word phrases now since that's the next "step" in language development. ("Open, please. Up, Mama. No, kitty. , ect.) He "babbles" alll day long.. it is so much fun.
  • He loves pre-school! He runs right to his teacher, and then last Tuesday when I went to pick him up he didn't even want to come to me and then he cried when I carried him out, LOL.
  • He has 2 "obsessions" right now. The first one is cars, trucks, and planes! Any kind of vehicle really. And the second is coloring/drawing! He LOVES coloring. Absolutely loves it. He will sit and color for 30 minutes straight. And he will "copy" what we draw. (lines, circles, polka dots, ect.) We might have an artist on our hands because he loves drawing!

I was reading back over his 18 month post and thought I should add that he's not near as "attached" to me as he was a couple months ago. It must have just been one of those phases. He seems to be doing really well with our much faster paced schedule this fall... I still make sure we have some days where we just stay home all day and play =) We are having SO much fun watching him grow and learn about the world around him! Life with this little boy just keeps getting better!

1st Day of Pre-School

Wyatt had his first day of pre-school last Tuesday! He is in the fish room with 18-24 month olds. It's a small pre-school at a church really close to our house which is nice! They do a curriculum and have art time, music class, bible/circle time, and of course play, eat, and nap! Surpisingly (and thankfully!) he went right to his teacher when we dropped him off and didn't even look back... just ran to go play. That made it easier of course, but I still cried =)

He only goes once a week so it's not a super big transition, but I think he's going to really enjoy it. I plan on doing my big grocery trip shopping right after I drop him off. And I'll use the rest of the day to run any other errands that aren't the easiest with a toddler in tow, clean, work on some other projects around the house that I just don't otherwise get to. (i.e. finish some pages in his baby book! lol), and prepare for leading bible study.
Tyler starts his new job at USAA tomorrow! We are so thankful for this job and he is more than ready to get back to full-time work.

A Weekend in Irving

I am very behind in blogging. It is not due to a lack of pictures. I have tons of pictures to post! I guess it's due to a lack of motivation if I'm being honest =) I'm going to get caught up though!
So a couple weekends ago we drove up to Irving and stayed with Ashly and Jason. Tyler had a good friend from the Marine Corps who was going to be in Dallas and he hasn't seen him in about 2 years. So one of the days we met his friend for lunch and also introduced him to geocaching! I didn't take a picture of our lunch, but I have some pics from the Aquarium in Grapevine that we went too!

 Touching the starfish

Most of the aquarium was really dark and there was no flash photography so that's why those pictures are kinda crazy looking. It was the best aquarium we've been to! A little on the small side, but really awesome.
We never visit Ashly and Jason without some crazy geocaching adventures!!

 Jason placing his latest cache!

We stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel on the way home. There was supposed to be a cache on the front porch, but we couldn't find it! We were totally bummed.

This week officially starts our Fall routine! Tomorrow is Wyatt's first day of Pre-School! He'll only be going on Tuesdays from 9:00-2:00. Thankfully, I have a lunch meeting with my MOPS table tomorrow so that will help keep my mind busy. I'm excited and sad all at the same time. I know he will have a blast =)
Wednesday morning kicks off Bible Study for the semester.... I will be leading a small group this Fall at bible study!! I am totally nervous and it is sooo outside my comfort zone, but I am looking forward to seeing all that God has in store for me to learn through the experience!
And then Friday is the first MOPS meeting of the year! I am so excited to be getting back into more of a weekly routine. SO long, Summer!
Tyler starts his new job in 6 days!!!! And he will continue flying and working towards his commercial lisence!

MOPS Convention 2012

As I've mentioned before, I am on the steering committee for my MOPS group for the 2012-2013 year. Last weekend, a group of 9 of us went to the annual MOPS International Convention at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas! I was not originally signed up to go but another lady had to drop at the last minute so I snatched up the empty spot. I am so. glad. I was able to go. Tyler was able to stay home with Wyatt so that wasn't an issue. And our MOPS group is so fortunate in that our budget covered everyone's registration and hotel rooms... we just had to pay for our food! Can't beat that.

Our 3 days at convention consisted of 4 general sessions, several workshops, morning praise and worship, Matthew West concert, shopping, eating, lounging by the pool, and lots and lots of chatting =) I really didn't know any of the girls that went but got to know a few of them very well and I am so, so thankful for that!! It was such a blast! We heard from some amazing speakers (Lisa Harper, Kay Warren, Shauna Niequist - check out her blog!) and got introduced to so many awesome resources to help us along this wild parenting adventure ;) Now for the pictures.....

I GOT TO MEET CHRISTY NOCKELS!!! (She led the worship for the entire convention... sooooo amazing! I've alwasy loved her!)

Alecia and Lauren

 Alison, Jenny, and Katherine

With Rachel and Heather assembling a box for Operation Christmas Child

Relaxing by the Lazy River.... without having to wrangle children! LOL

Our Group

Jenny and Alison are our Coordinators for the year

This was my first time away from Wyatt overnight and surprisingly I did just fine =) (And he did too, of course!) We were actually really busy so there wasn't a lot of time to mope over missing our little ones, lol. Tyler had a blast having him all to himself for 3 days, best Daddy ever ;) I love the MOPS organization and everything it stands for. And to think I almost didn't join last year because I'm "shy".... I'm sure glad I got over that because I have met some awesome friends and so has Wyatt!!
